At least four times in the last six weeks, Currie has seen all three of his paperbacks ranked in Amazon.com’s Top 100 Bestsellers in the category of “Relationships / Dating,” which would make him only the second African American male to accomplish this feat in the last five years (the other author would be Tariq Nasheed). Both Mode One and Oooooh … Say it Again are also available in Amazon.com’s Kindle eBook format.
Currie’s first paperback, Mode One, has been sold in over fifteen different countries, and is still very popular among single heterosexual men all over the world. Mode One was written by Currie to encourage men to approach women with more confidence and converse with women in a more forthright manner, and express their romantic and sexual desires, interests and intentions to women in a more highly self-assured, upfront, unapologetic, and straightforwardly honest manner.
Currie’s second paperback, Upfront and Straightforward, was released in April 2009 and was the featured textbook for an adult education college course Currie taught in Northwest Indiana entitled “Dating for 21st Century Singles.” The book identifies many of the more common “manipulative head games” that both men and women tend to employ with one another in today’s dating scene. In the book, Currie encourages men and women to get away from behavior that is dishonest, disingenuous, duplicitous, and misleading with members of the opposite sex.
Currie’s newest book, Oooooh … Say it Again, is without question Currie’s most provocative, risqué, and erotically explicit book the author has written to date. Part One of the book discusses how men and women are socialized differently in regard to their attitude toward sex, and Currie describes the five different levels of sexual interest that women tend to exhibit with men of interest. Part Two includes six stories that emphasize examples of Currie’s “verbal seduction” mindset and dialogue with single women of interest. Currie also uses a portion of the book to discuss what he feels is still the “800 pound gorilla” in American society, which is polyamorous dating and casual sex. Currie states that he feels it is naïve of many in society to think that sex within the context of marriage, or sex within the context of a long-term monogamous relationship, is still the ‘standard’ by which many men and women seek to adhere to. Currie also emphasizes the practice of safe sex habits throughout the book.
Dr. Dawgelene “Dr. Dawj” Sangster, a member of Chicago’s popular “Six Brown Chicks” which features dating advice and insight from six African-American women from the Chicago region, recently said of Oooooh … Say it Again: “This book is not for sensitive eyes, but even if you are a self-proclaimed prude like I am, you will still thoroughly enjoy Alan’s book, and specifically, his emphasis on men being honest with women and not playing games, his harsh admonishment of men who use alcohol or drugs in order to take advantage of women sexually, and his repeated emphasis on practicing safe sex in order to avoid STDs and unwanted pregnancies. I would recommend ‘Say it Again’ to both men and women alike.”
Currie is also the host of a talk radio podcast program on the BlogTalkRadio Internet Radio Network entitled, Upfront & Straightforward with Alan Roger Currie, which is consistently ranked as the #1 most listened to show on BlogTalkRadio in the category of Dating and Romance. ‘Upfront & Straightforward’ was featured in the October 2009 issue of Black Enterprise magazine. Currie has been featured in media publications in a number of different countries, quickly gaining a reputation as one of the world’s foremost authorities on interpersonal communication skills between men and women. Currie is a relationship columnist for the Examiner.com and also a relationship advisor for BlackPeopleMeet.com’s Online Magazine. Currie was a featured speaker in London, England in November 2010 at the first ever “Direct Approach Dating Summit for Men,” and he will be a featured speaker at this same event on March 17-18, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
